In 2015, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago & Kohl’s Cares , the philanthropic arm of Kohl’s Department Stores teamed up to sponsor Lincoln Central’s 2nd annual Spring Zing held on Saturday May 30, 2015 at Lincoln Central Park—just outside of Four Farthings Bar & Grill and City Grounds. Spring Zing brought neighbors together, promoted bike maintenance and safety, showcased the architectural heritage of the neighborhood, entertained children, encouraged support of local merchants and helped generate greater awareness of LCA’s mission in the neighborhood. Performance Bicycle returned to provide free bike tune-ups for neighborhood residents. The bike safety team from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago & Kohl’s Cares was on hand to teach bike and pedestrian safety to attendees of the event and distributed bike safety equipment. Community Christian Church ran the Kid’s Corner featuring arts & crafts. Master balloon artist, A Real Mad Hatter, and face painting by Queen Elsa from Frozen delighted the children. LCA Board member, Gary Sinclair will orchestrated the day’s events in his role as emcee and help award valuable prizes to winners of the Spring Zing raffle.
Spring Zing’s other 2015 sponsors included: Debra Dobbs/@Properties, Four Farthings, Bridgeview Bank , Hotel Lincoln, Oz Animal Hospital and City Grounds. Raffle donors included Gemini Bistro, Pilates ProWorks , Cafe Floriole, Gepperth’s Market , Taco Joint, Glasses, Ltd., Four Farthings, Whole Foods , Oz Animal Hospital, Natural Elements Salon , Summer House Santa Monica, Stella Barra , Geja’s Cafe, David’s Tea , Navy Pier and the Chicago White Sox .
