Park Advisory Council Bauler Park is a wonderful asset and a focal point in our community, especially for families with young children. In addition to providing for various family recreational activities, the park serves as a village center for neighborhood residents. Last year, our Halloween event helped to strengthen the neighborhood's sense of community.
Over the past decade, the park's appearance has improved significantly due to the involvement and generosity of local neighbors. More than $65,000 has been raised for new plantings, new benches, a sprinkler system and the restoration of the Wisconsin Street parkway. The 2010 campaign raised $4,525, which provided for the remulching of the plant beds, tree trimming and general maintenance to supplement the work done by the Chicago Park District. Funds from the 2010 campaign allowed the Council to order a new piece of playground equipment (to be installed by the summer to replace the riding horse, which was removed in 2009. And last year as a result of the attention focused on the park by the Advisory Council and the community, the Park District replanted an area in the park along the alley fence with dozens of new bushes. After the new playground equipment is paid for, the Bauler Park fund will stand at $2,000. For 2011, the Advisory Council's fund raising goal is $3,000, which will provide for additional plantings and maintenance. The Council is also planning a family oriented event to increase involvement and support for the park. Your contribution is crucial in making this possible. All contributions are tax deductible.
