Community Maintenance Program
2010

Bauler Park is a wonderful asset and a focal point in our community, especially for families with young children. In addition to providing for various family recreational activities, the park serves as a village center for neighborhood residents. Last year, two events – a movie night in July and a Halloween party in October – helped to strengthen the neighborhood’s sense of community.

Over the past decade, the park’s appearance has improved significantly due to the involvement and generosity of local neighbors. More than $60,000 has been raised over that period for new plantings, new benches, a sprinkler system and the restoration of the Wisconsin Street parkway. The 2009 campaign raised $5,000, which provided for the remulching of the plant beds, tree trimming and general maintenance to supplement the work done by the Chicago Park District. And last year as a result of the attention focused on the park by the Advisory Council and the community, the Park District replanted several overgrown trees and replaced the worn out pavement adjacent to the main play area. At this time, $3,125 remains in the Bauler Park fund.

For 2010, the Advisory Council’s fund raising goal is $6,000, which will provide for additional plantings and maintenance and the replacement of one playground equipment (riding horse), which was removed last summer. The Council is also planning two family oriented events to increase involvement and support for the park. Your contribution is crucial in making this possible. All contributions are tax deductible.
